Thank you to everyone on this forum particularly new guy for your information and help. I have been trying to sort this out for a long time. And at last I can use it on my Windows 7. Thank you, thank you, thank you. So glad I found this forum.

I just bought a new laptop with win 7 x64 because the motherboard on my old x32 laptop died. I was about to flash the firmware on my 2300dl and try the fix described here when I noticed in the KM Technical Advice Document that it says you can't update it if your current firmware ends in a "T". Has anyone tried the update to 2.85s when their existing version ends in T? If so, what happens?

I need to know if I will destroy the board before I do it, since I would prefer not to turn my 2300dl into a boat anchor.

FW Controller: 02.28T
FW Engine: 4131.50G1.0800

this site was a complete godsend. i recently updated my computers in office, and was unable to use my magicolor 2300dl. this is the best printer i've had, and the only one i have kept with really no problems for years. i followed the instructions for the firmware download, and minidriver, and my printer is working better than new. disabling the bidirectional delayed the lag time, and i'm just ecstatic. i had purchased a new magicolor 4750dn, and had to send it back to manufacturer the first week. i searched until i found this site, and talked with the tech support at minolta, and now i'm back in business. my magicolor has worked well for over 13 years. totally ecstatic right now.

Thank you so much. Works perfectly on Win 7 Home 64 Bit, Dell laptop using KM 64 bit win 2003 Server driver through wireless network. It was months before I came across this info about disabling bi-directional support to avoid 2 minute delay. My daughter no longer panics about being late to school when printing a last minute assignment!

Works great!! first update firmwire asl told in previous post:
Posted by Guest on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 04:39
This thing works, the only stipulation is that you have to upgrade your firmware. After many tribulation, I was able to find the firmware on Minolta's website. just go to the following link: http://www.konicaminolta.eu/business-solutions/support/laser... and then click on downloads. Once you get there, select your printer, and firmware in document type/subcategory. There you should find 2.86 version controller. Just follow the instructions to install the firmware and then install this driver. This is well worth your time.

then install mini(uni) driver as posted in Posted by thenewguy on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 16:32
You can download the 64-bit driver (choose 'Mini Driver' as 'Type of Driver') as well as firmware 2.86s at

http://www.konicaminolta.eu/business-solutions/support/downl...

I have my printer set up via USB on a Windows 7 x64. I found that deselecting 'Enable bidirectional support' in 'Printer properties' -> 'Ports' solved the problem of slow printing. I think it might have the same effect as removing the monitor .dll file as suggested elsewhere.

and works as new thanks for great forum!

I've finally managed to get a printer that works for me.

I have failed to get the printer to print via ethernet.
I have failed to get the printer to work through a computer a different number of bits to the one that is directly connected.

I have connected the printer via usb to windows 7 ultimate 64bit and simultaneously via parrallel to windows xp 32bit.
I have connected wirelessly from my 32 bit laptop through the 32bit parallel computer.
I have instant printing from both.

I am happy.

For anyone still struggling with the time delay on windows 7 64 bit the solution is straight forward. Go to "Devices and Printers", right click select "printer properties", navitage to the "ports" tab, unselect "enable bi-directional support" (bottom of page), click "apply".

Thanks to everyone here who helped so much!

You can get the latest firmware direct from Konica Minolta here http://www.konicaminolta.co.uk/business-solutions/support/do...
Just select to show unsupported products.
Then select the 2300DL
Then select firmware it is version 28.6

I'm just starting this myself - have no idea what I'm doing. Don't even know what tcp/ip means. Found the firmware. Now I've found the driver. Now to break a printer beyond repair!

Please let me know anything else you spot.
Posted by Guest22 on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 20:06
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the newest firmware version? I have tried looking for a copy and cannot find one. I checked Minolta but they don't seem to list the 2300DL anymore.

Thanks to Chipgoon. I have a Windows 7 64 bit system and a Magicolor 2300DL with firmware 2.85s connected via TCP/IP. I simply installed the XP 64bit driver by adding a printer. I declared the printer as local, but I choosed a TCP\IP port with the IP address of my printer. And it works fine ! Amazing !

You can stop the 2 min wait to print by changing the port configuration from Raw to LPR, queue name LP. Queue name must be LP.

Thank you thenewguy, deselecting 'Enable bidirectional support' did the trick.

I neglected to create a new port the first time around but was able to go back, create a new port and get it running.

seems to work but slow. Can't find the firmware
on Minolta's site. Their server is throwing errors.

I use this driver for Window 7 and it works great so far. Did not have to update my firmware, it was already 2.83. I just added the drive by doing most of the step as listed below by Chipgoon. I did add it as a network printer, (that was the type of driver that I downloaded).

For gcreallaw, the firmware 286 mentioned below is found on Konica's United Kingdom support page at

Driver worked for me with Windows 7 64 bit home premium and no firmware upgrade (has 283S already). Ran slow at first, with a 2 minute delay on start of each job but second and additional pages ran normal. Slow down then corrected by lowering user Access Control to lowest (level 1 setting versus the default level 3). Survives reboot and continues to work fast/normal.

Using USB cable from computer to the printer. For the driver install, I used 'add printer', 'local port', selected existing USB port 001 from a displayed list, then browsed to my desktop where I had downloaded the driver, and selected the '.inf' file for the install. Printed several old documents and features appear normal so far. Was fooled at first when the 'print test page' took a full two minutes and I had tried more that once so it took about ten minutes for the several test pages to clear at two minutes each.

Thanks to all on this forum for the assistance!

Just got a Windows 7 machine and trying to install the driver. I have the old 2.85T firmware and can't get it to update. I was wondering if someone could point me to the american version 285S mentioned in the post by jjceo. Same as Cherie I updated the .bat file and tried to ping...nothing. I am hoping the american version will fix my firmware problem and i can install the 64bit driver successfully. Thanks.

Well, I have the correct firmware in my 2300DL, and I download the XP 64bit driver from this site, but then when I try to follow the directions in adding a new printer, local printer, etc but then the "raw 9100" is where I get hung up: it just doesn't allow me to choose any such port in the setup process. what's going wrong? thanks.

Thank you - thank you! We bought our Magicolor 2300DL from Sam's in the last few years for home use. I have used Vista 64 bit at work for some time and knew that we would probably have problems once we purchased a new laptop with Vista on it. I called Konica Minolta's customer service line - we printed out a test page for the firmware and our's came up as 2.85S. The rep simply told me that the printer will not work with Vista 64 bit.

So I came here and tried the download. The printer is very slow - but I will take slow over not being able to use the printer at all.

FYI for those looking info on this - our's is hooked up locally via USB.

Stuck here. Upgraded the firmware from my old machine, but the 2300d_64b file downloaded and unzipped from KM has no executable in it?? There ARE two application files in there, 1 in the AMD64 file and the other in the I386 file, but neither will do anything when double-clicked. So...how did you all install the 64 bit driver in the first place? New machine has Win 7 64 bit on it.
Posted by birderbill on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 22:33
Finally got my 2300dl working with Win 7HP 64-bit. Managed to scrounge a 25/36 Centronics Cable from an old employer. Installed the KM XP 64bit driver on my new machine. Installed the 2.85s printer firmware upgrade using my old XP machine.

Got the slowwwww... printing problem.

Ratcheting down UAC solved it, but was a little uncomfortable keeping it there.

Found the monitoring dll, which on my machine was MLUU_MON.dll, not MLMON_B.dll. Deleted it from Win 7 safe mode. So far everythings golden, test printed several files from Word, Excel and Foxit Reader while UAC was at default setting. No problems. WOO HOO!

Actually wouldn't of minded a new printer, but really don't wanna shell out the bucks at the moment.

running it in "local printer" (even thought it is networked) was the cure. Thanks a million (sheets of wasted paper)! HPe9107C with Linksys N router with printer networked.

OK, solved. Had to upgrade the firmware in the printer to 2.8s. Installed like a champ after that.

Just bought an HP laptop with Windows 7. I have a Magicolor 2300dl...like everyone else here. I've talked to Minolta. They gave me a direct link to this driver. Unzipped but no MLUU_DRV.inf. Same file as offered at this site. I see it in the menu of "file to be unzipped" but can't find it once I do. MLUU_DRV is a text file and Windows 7 doesn't like it.

So if I don't have a parallel printer port / cable how the hell do I update the firmware on the magicolor 2300 dl?
Posted by wannee on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 17:51
i did use win 7 64 and xp virtuell mode and get it to work that way
Posted by acelottski on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 18:43
Oh, I'm using Vista 64 Ultimate SP1, 2300DL firmware 2.86S, XP 64 bit driver, created port to IP generic newtwork card, standard tcp/ip, port 9100 RAW, UAC disabled.

Good luck!
Posted by acelottski on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 18:40
For slow printing, I disabled my UAC, but every time I rebooted, I could never print and had to reload the XP 64 driver. The Minolta folks told me to go the Printers folder, right click the printer, and chose Use Printer Online. Then it printed immediately. Also on another forum, they say it's caused by a monitoring dll, MLMON_B.dll. If deleted from Windows\System32 directory, they claim its stops the problem. For me, i'll just select Use Printer online. Here's link to the forum comments: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1542232

I've installed the XP driver as suggested, finally got that installed, yet still get Error - printing. Nothing has printed. Tried to install the updated 2.86 firmware as suggested here. Updated the .bat file with the correct IP address from printer's config page, tried the ping, nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance...

@jjceo: Thanks for the info. I have the same older 2.28T firmare (that supposedly can't be upgraded). Where do I find the "American Firmware" version? I've Googled the hell out of it but can't seem to find it. TIA
Posted by jjceo on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 04:07
I have a 2300 DL with firmware version 02.28T and it failed to allow me to reburn the firmware 4 times. I turned off the printer and tried again using the American Firmware version 285S and it worked finally. I installed the drivers and it worked great on Vista 64. I have the User account control turned off like I have on my 32 bit machines and it works great. THe User account control has bad effects on the Minolta printers for some reason.

Not all printers have upgradable firmwares. My firmware version is 02.28T and according to tech support is not upgradable. I guess I am out of luck.

It works great. They key is to update the firmware on the printer. Until I did that, I kept getting the Print Errors. Won't buy another Minolta however, same reason as others below, lack of driver support.

thanks for all the information; look like i'm in the same boat as most of you. i need more help, please...
do i need to update my firmware?
do i need to turn off UAC? when?
when downloading drivers for 64bitdrivers.com, where and how do i save them? i save to desktop but when i got to browse it wasn't reconized as a .inf file???
also after i created new port: standard tcp/ip, it then ask hostname or ip, then port ( i typed in my ip address and put 9100 in as the port... what is RAW ???)
next screen i put generic network card, then to have disk and browse to driver...
not sure if i'm doing any of this correctly, can anyone please help?
Thanks a million
ps i spoke with minolta and i don't believe they are ever going to make available drivers for vistax64, they stated this model is 4 generation old, i tried explaining to them even though it is old it is still in excellant working condition and should be for the price!
thanks again for any help anyone can provide..

Ih and I am using this solution on a WIndows 7 Beta machine 64bit install so it is good going forward. Just make sure you do teh Firmware update. My printer is also on a network and I mapped its location in Win7 via its address manually. That is easy to do though.

Thanks again!!!

Just follow the instructions to install the firmware and then install this driver. This is well worth your time.

I'm having two problems with the 2300DL driver. How do you create a 9100 raw port? When I was going through the install the install program couldn't find a .inf file in the download. I a novice.

For anybody using this driver with Vista x64 (I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 SP1) and having difficulty, update the printer's firmware.

I was having great difficulty in printing (i.e. it wouldn't print) until I installed this firmware...

Followed Kent's instructions and it works great on my 64-bit Vista.

Further to my post below, I turned off UAC and it prints instantly. Next question, is there a workaround so I don't have to turn off UAC?
Posted by jc on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 15:16
I figured it out: User Account Control (UAC) intereferes with the printing, slowing down Vista sending the job to the printer. When you first install the printer, there's no problem, but after restarting the computer, UAC slows down printing.

It works fast right after I install the printer (following directions below), but then once the computer has been reset, Vista is reallly slow sending the print job to the printer.

No luck here. Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate, SP1.

I will never purchase another Konica-Minolta product.

Nope, didn't work for me...Vista 64 Ultimate. Too bad...it's a great little printer to go to waste. Will never buy Minolta again. Sticking with HP. Better Driver support.

didn't work for me. Vista Ultimate 64 bit + SP1. I get Error-Printing message. I tried the 64 bit xp drivers from Minolta web page with the same results.
And yes, this was a network printer, I got the IP address right, port = 9100, RAW, etc. etc.
Posted by Chipgoon on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 03:43
Yes it worked on vista 64 ultimate sp1. Following Kent_Diego's instructions:
1. Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Printer>Add Printer
2. Select Local Printer not Network Printer!
3. Create new port Standard TCP/IP port, port 9100 RAW.
4. Select "Have Disk" and browse to driver downloaded from
64bitdrivers.com
